Now I personally am not old enough to vote yet but every time I turn on the news these two are on the screen. So I decided, “hey, why not check these two out. one of them could be my next president come November”.
So here are some things I care about, global warming and conserving energy, the War on Terrorism, education, immigration, and poverty. what did these two have to say about it??
question mark

Clinton

  • A $50 billion Strategic Energy Fund, paid for in part by oil companies, to fund investments in alternative energy. The SEF will finance one-third of the $150 billon ten-year investment in a new energy future contained in this plan;
  • An aggressive comprehensive energy efficiency agenda to reduce electricity consumption 20 percent from projected levels by 2020 by changing the way utilities do business, catalyzing a green building industry, enacting strict appliance efficiency standards, and phasing out incandescent light bulbs;
  • Doubling of federal investment in basic energy research, including funding for an ARPA-E, a new research agency modeled on the successful Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency
  • A new “Connie Mae” program to make it easier for low and middle-income Americans to buy green homes and invest in green home improvements;
  • A requirement that all federal buildings designed after January 20, 2009 will be zero emissions buildings.
  • Obama
    Obama

  • Invest $150 Billion over 10 Years in Clean Energy: Obama will invest $150 billion over 10 years to advance the next generation of biofuels and fuel infrastructure, accelerate the commercialization of plug-in hybrids, promote development of commercial-scale renewable energy, invest in low-emissions coal plants, and begin the transition to a new digital electricity grid. A principal focus of this fund will be devoted to ensuring that technologies that are developed in the U.S. are rapidly commercialized in the U.S. and deployed around the globe.
  • Double Energy Research and Development Funding: Obama will double science and research funding for clean energy projects including those that make use of our biomass, solar and wind resources.
  • Deploy Cellulosic Ethanol: Obama will invest federal resources, including tax incentives, cash prizes and government contracts into developing the most promising technologies with the goal of getting the first two billion gallons of cellulosic ethanol into the system by 2013.
  • Establish a National Low Carbon Fuel Standard: Barack Obama will establish a National Low Carbon Fuel Standard to speed the introduction of low-carbon non-petroleum fuels. The standard requires fuels suppliers to reduce the carbon their fuel emits by ten percent by 2020.
  • Create New Forum of Largest Greenhouse Gas Emitters: Obama will create a Global Energy Forum — that includes all G-8 members plus Brazil, China, India, Mexico and South Africa –the largest energy consuming nations from both the developed and developing world. The forum would focus exclusively on global energy and environmental issues.

  • so they both want to spend money on researching on green energy, they also both want to make more strict standards for companies
so for now Obama and Clinton are tied in my book
K, next issue is the War on Terrorism, or being in Iraq, whatever your want to call it personally

    Clinton
Alright, so basically Clinton has a “3 step plan” to bring our troops home
1.to end our military engagement in Iraq’s civil war and immediately start bringing our troops home. She would also direct the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs to prepare a comprehensive plan to provide the highest quality health care and benefits to every service member — including every member of the National Guard and Reserves — and their families.
2.As president, Hillary would focus American aid efforts during our redeployment on stabilizing Iraq, not propping up the Iraqi government.
3.In her first days in office, Hillary would convene a regional stabilization group composed of key allies, other global powers, and all of the states bordering Iraq.
    Obama

  • Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months
  • The best way to press Iraq’s leaders to take responsibility for their future is to make it clear that we are leaving.
  • Obama will launch the most aggressive diplomatic effort in recent American history to reach a new compact on the stability of Iraq and the Middle East. This effort will include all of Iraq’s neighbors — including Iran and Syria.
  • So, now we covered those issues, I’m going more on the Clinton side, she has more of a set plan and one part i didn’t put was that in her 3rd step to her plan, that group of key allies would be doing 3 major things, work on helping Iraq without getting involved with war, the group would also help with making compromises among the people there, and and the would encourage funding for Iraq’s needs>
    So Obama 1 Clinton 2

    Education
    Obama
The “zero to five” plan-will provide critical support to young children and their parents. Unlike other early childhood education plans, Obama’s plan places key emphasis at early care and education for infants, which is essential for children to be ready to enter kindergarten.

  • Support College Outreach Programs
  • Expand Summer Learning Opportunities
  • Reward Teachers
  • Create the American Opportunity Tax Credit: Obama will make college affordable for all Americans by creating a new American Opportunity Tax Credit.
  • Clinton
Hillary knows that parents are our children’s first teachers, and the early years have a tremendous impact on their lives. That is why she will invest heavily in proven strategies to get all children ready for school.

  • Expand early-intervention mentoring programs to help one million at-risk youth aspire for college and job success.
  • Identify at-risk youth early on and provide $1 billion in intensive interventions, such as early college high schools and multiple pathways to graduation, to get them back on track.
  • Create a new $3,500 college tax credit.
  • Strengthen community colleges through a $500 million investment.
  • so, I’m thinking more Obama on this issue. Obama 2 Clinton 2

    Immigration
    Obama

  • creat secure boarders
  • Improve Our Immigration System
  • Remove Incentives to Enter Illegally
  • Bring People Out of the Shadows-Obama supports a system that allows undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens
  • Work with Mexico
  • Clinton
She championed the Legal Immigrant Children’s Health Improvement Act, which would give states the option to provide federally funded Medicaid and SCHIP benefits to low-income legal immigrant children and pregnant women.

  • And Hillary understands that our immigration policies have a direct impact on American workers. She opposes a guest worker program that exploits workers and creates a supply of cheap labor that undermines the wages of U.S. workers.
  • Hillary strongly believes we need to do more to know who is in our country by securing our borders and ensuring that employers comply with the law against hiring and exploiting undocumented workers.
  • so, I’m more on Obama’s side this time. He wants to send back illegal aliens to the boarder to have a chance at becoming legal. But i do like the Clinton idea of offering help to pregant women, but I don’t think it’s fair that they can come in and get help.
    Obama 3 Clinton 2

    Poverty
    Obama

  • Help Americans Grab a Hold of and Climb the Job Ladder
  • Create a Green Jobs Corps: Obama will create a program to directly engage disadvantaged youth in energy efficiency opportunities to strengthen their communities, while also providing them with practical skills in this important high-growth career field.
  • Improve Transportation Access to Jobs:
  • Reduce Crime Recidivism by Providing Ex-Offender Supports
  • Create a Living Wage
  • Invest in Rural Areas:
  • Clinton
now on Clinton’s website it doesn’t have an issue called poverty or anything but she believes in strengthening the middle class and offering health care to all.

  • Lower taxes for middle class families
  • Harness the power of innovation to create high wage jobs of the 21st Century
  • Empower our workers and ensure that all Americans contribute their fair share.
  • Restore the basic bargain. Hillary will restore the basic bargain that if Americans work hard and take responsibility, government will do its part to make sure they have the tools to get ahead.
  • Return to fiscal responsibility.
  • I think I have to go with Obama again, sorry Clinton but middle class doesn’t mean poor and I want to know what you think about the poor in our country.
    Obama 4 Clinton 2
Of course there are more issues that these two are discussing but the issues talked about here are some of my main things. I can’t be totally sure that I am going for Obama, but he’s cool in my book for now.
